APHC Demands UN Intervention Over Indian Military Crackdown in Kashmir

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has raised a serious alarm over what it describes as a brutal military crackdown being carried out in Indian-administered Kashmir, demanding urgent intervention by the United Nations to address the deteriorating human rights situation.

In a statement, the APHC called on the UN Security Council and relevant human rights bodies to take immediate cognisance of what it characterises as systematic military operations targeting the civilian population of Kashmir.

The organisation's appeal comes at a time of heightened sensitivity around the Kashmir dispute, with India and Pakistan's bilateral relations remaining severely strained and diplomatic channels between the two nuclear-armed neighbours largely frozen.

The APHC has historically used international forums and public statements to draw attention to conditions in Indian-administered Kashmir, and Saturday's statement follows a pattern of escalating advocacy particularly when specific incidents of military action are reported.

Pakistan-based Hurriyat leadership statements carry weight in the context of Islamabad's broader Kashmir policy, though their direct impact on international policymaking has been limited by geopolitical considerations and India's firm position that Kashmir is an internal matter.
