Dar says Pakistan focused on making US-Iran ceasefire permanent

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that Pakistan's diplomatic priority has shifted toward consolidating and making permanent the fragile ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran. Dar's remarks signal an active Pakistani role in post-ceasefire stabilisation efforts in the wider Middle East region.

Speaking in Islamabad, Dar underscored that Pakistan had engaged diplomatically with multiple stakeholders and would continue leveraging its relationships with both Washington and Tehran to prevent a return to hostilities. He described the ceasefire as a critical window that must not be allowed to lapse due to procedural or political delays.

Pakistan's position carries particular weight given its longstanding ties with Iran as a neighbouring state and its strategic relationship with the United States. Islamabad has historically sought to position itself as a constructive neutral party in Gulf and Middle East tensions without formally aligning against either side.
