Fauji Fertilizer Joins Arif Habib Consortium Bidding for PIA

Fauji Fertilizer Company has formally joined the Arif Habib Consortium in its bid to acquire Pakistan International Airlines, adding significant industrial weight to the private sector group competing for the national carrier. The move marks one of the most consequential consolidations within the ongoing PIA privatisation process.

Fauji Fertilizer, a subsidiary of the Fauji Foundation and one of Pakistan's largest listed companies, brings institutional credibility and financial depth to the consortium. Its participation signals growing private sector confidence in the viability of turning around the state-owned airline, which has been burdened by decades of debt and operational losses.

The Arif Habib Consortium is among the shortlisted bidders for PIA, a flagship transaction in the government's broader privatisation agenda backed by commitments made under the IMF Extended Fund Facility. The addition of Fauji Fertilizer is expected to strengthen the consortium's financial standing in the due diligence and final bidding stages.
