Flydubai Suspends Pakistan Flights Until October Over Operational Issues
Dubai-based carrier Flydubai has suspended all flights to Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar until October, citing unspecified operational issues in a move that will significantly disrupt air connectivity between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates during a period of high travel demand.
The suspension affects one of the busiest air corridors serving Pakistani travellers, overseas workers, and the Pakistani diaspora in the Gulf. Flydubai operates multiple daily frequencies to the three Pakistani cities and its withdrawal leaves thousands of passengers scrambling to rebook on alternative carriers, including Emirates and Air Arabia.
The airline has not publicly elaborated on the nature of the operational issues, leaving aviation authorities and travel industry stakeholders without a clear timeline for resumption. Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, and it remains unclear whether the suspension is linked to airspace, slot, or scheduling constraints.
The development deals a fresh blow to Pakistan's aviation sector, which is still recovering from post-conflict airspace disruptions earlier in the year. Industry analysts warn the prolonged suspension could push fares on the Karachi-Dubai route sharply higher and complicate travel arrangements for hundreds of thousands of Pakistani workers employed in the UAE.
