India's RSS Lobbies Foreign Organisations to Counter Minority Rights Criticism

India's Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological parent body of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, has been engaged in systematic lobbying of foreign organisations and diaspora networks in an effort to counter growing international criticism over the treatment of religious minorities in India. The campaign represents a coordinated attempt to shape external perceptions ahead of continued scrutiny from Western governments and human rights bodies.

The lobbying effort reportedly targets think tanks, parliamentary groups, and diaspora associations in Europe, North America, and the Gulf, seeking to rebuff accusations of minority persecution and reframe the narrative around Hindu nationalist governance. Critics argue that the campaign is aimed at insulating the BJP-RSS ecosystem from accountability rather than addressing substantive human rights concerns.

International rights organisations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly documented incidents of anti-Muslim and anti-Christian violence in India, as well as discriminatory legislation such as the Citizenship Amendment Act. The RSS lobbying initiative appears designed to neutralise the diplomatic pressure these reports have generated.

For Pakistan, the disclosure carries particular significance given its long-standing advocacy at international forums for the rights of Indian Muslims. Islamabad is likely to cite the revelations as further evidence of systemic state-backed efforts to suppress minority rights discourse in India.
