Lawyers' Body Challenges Transfer of IHC Judges Before Supreme Court

The Lahore Bar Association has moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging the transfer of judges from the Islamabad High Court in a petition that raises fundamental questions about judicial independence, the lawful exercise of transfer powers, and the integrity of the court's composition.

The petition follows a controversial round of judicial transfers affecting IHC judges, which drew sharp criticism from legal communities and opposition quarters who alleged that the transfers were orchestrated to alter bench compositions in ways favourable to executive interests.
