Pakistan Interior Ministry Denies Targeted UAE Deportations Of Citizens

Pakistan's interior ministry on Friday categorically denied reports that Pakistani nationals were being subjected to targeted deportations from the United Arab Emirates, stating that no such coordinated expulsion campaign exists. The ministry urged the public to disregard what it described as misleading social media claims.

The clarification came amid circulating reports suggesting a surge in deportations of Pakistani workers and residents from the UAE, which is home to one of the largest Pakistani diaspora communities in the world. Such reports had caused concern among families of overseas Pakistanis and prompted inquiries to diplomatic missions.

The ministry confirmed that while routine immigration enforcement by UAE authorities continues in line with standard practice, there is no evidence of a policy targeting Pakistanis specifically. Pakistani diplomatic missions in the UAE have been asked to remain attentive and assist any citizen facing genuine legal difficulties.

The episode highlights the sensitivity of overseas Pakistani communities to changes in host country immigration policy, particularly in Gulf states where remittance flows represent a critical pillar of Pakistan's external accounts. Officials reiterated that bilateral ties with the UAE remain strong and cooperative.
