Pakistan Rejects Reports of Targeted Deportations from UAE as False

The Pakistani government has categorically rejected circulating reports alleging that Pakistani nationals are being subjected to targeted deportations from the United Arab Emirates, dismissing the claims as false and misleading. The official denial comes as social media speculation about a crackdown on Pakistani workers in the UAE gained traction in recent days.

A formal statement from the relevant ministry urged Pakistani citizens and media organisations to refrain from amplifying unverified information that could cause unnecessary alarm among the large Pakistani diaspora community in the UAE. Pakistan maintains one of the largest overseas worker communities in the Gulf state, with remittances from the UAE forming a significant component of national inflows.

Officials emphasised that Pakistan-UAE bilateral ties remain strong and cooperative, and that no structured or politically motivated deportation campaign targeting Pakistanis has been initiated by Emirati authorities. The government indicated it was in regular contact with Pakistani diplomatic missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to monitor the welfare of citizens.

Fake or exaggerated reports about mass deportations from Gulf states periodically circulate on Pakistani social media platforms and have previously caused financial panic among overseas workers and their families. Authorities have previously warned against the spread of such misinformation and its destabilising effects on worker remittance behaviour.

The overseas Pakistani community in the UAE numbers in the hundreds of thousands and constitutes a vital source of foreign exchange for Pakistan. Any genuine disruption to their residency status would carry significant macroeconomic consequences, lending urgency to the government's swift public rebuttal.
