PM Declares May 10 National Marka-e-Haq Day Annually

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday announced that May 10 will henceforth be observed as Marka-e-Haq Day across Pakistan, institutionalising the anniversary of the military operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as a permanent national commemorative occasion. The announcement was made as the country marked the first anniversary of what the government has described as a decisive military and strategic victory against India.

The declaration elevates the date to the level of formal national observance, joining a calendar of state commemorations tied to key moments in Pakistan's security and sovereignty narrative. PM Sharif also paid tribute to the leadership and personnel of the armed forces, praising their valour and professionalism during the operation.

National events were held across the country to mark the occasion. The National Academy of Performing Arts staged a cultural programme titled Naghma-e-Watan in Karachi, while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended the flag-lowering ceremony at Wagah Border, a symbolically charged venue on the eve of such an anniversary. Security and prison police departments in Sindh also organised commemorative events.

Senior government officials echoed the prime minister's sentiments, with federal and provincial figures describing the anniversary as a moment of national renewal and a demonstration that Pakistan's armed forces are capable of deterring existential threats. The annual observance is expected to become a major fixture in the national calendar.
