PM Shehbaz Condemns Missile Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure in UAE
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, calling the strikes a grave violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of a fraternal nation. The prime minister's statement came as reports emerged of fresh military exchanges in the Gulf region, with the UAE among the countries bearing the brunt of escalating hostilities.
In an official communiqué issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the security and territorial integrity of the UAE, describing the two countries as bound by deep historical, cultural, and strategic ties. He called on the international community to take urgent steps to de-escalate the situation and protect civilian lives.
The condemnation places Pakistan firmly within the diplomatic chorus of nations expressing alarm at the widening arc of conflict across the Gulf, a region of critical strategic and economic importance to Islamabad. Over four million Pakistani expatriates reside in the UAE, and any prolonged destabilisation of the country carries direct socioeconomic consequences for Pakistan.
The prime minister urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and pursue dialogue as the only viable path to lasting peace. Pakistan's Foreign Office is understood to be closely monitoring the developing situation and maintaining contact with Pakistani diplomatic missions in the region.
