President Zardari Confers Sitara-i-Pakistan on Chinese Professor Pan Xiangbin

President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Sitara-i-Pakistan civil award upon Professor Pan Xiangbin of China at a special investiture ceremony, recognising the Chinese academic's contributions to strengthening educational and scientific ties between Pakistan and China. The ceremony was part of a broader diplomatic engagement involving bilateral MoU signings.

Professor Pan Xiangbin has been involved in collaborative academic and technical programmes between Pakistani and Chinese institutions, and the award signals Islamabad's appreciation for the role of individual scholars and professionals in deepening the bilateral relationship beyond formal state-to-state channels.

The conferment is consistent with Pakistan's practice of using civil awards to honour foreign nationals who have made significant contributions to bilateral relations, public service, or academic achievement. The ceremony was held at the Presidency and attended by senior officials from both sides.

The event forms part of a string of Pakistan-China bilateral activities on Monday, which included the signing of MoUs on desalination, agriculture, and tea cooperation, collectively representing a substantive day of bilateral institutional engagement.
