PTI Internal Tensions Rise Over New Coordination Body Formation
The formation of a new internal coordination body within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has triggered fresh discord among party ranks, exposing deepening fault lines within the opposition movement. Senior party members have raised objections to the structure and composition of the body, with critics alleging that the move consolidates influence in the hands of a select faction.
The dispute reflects ongoing struggles over party direction and internal governance that have persisted since the incarceration of founder Imran Khan. Multiple wings of the party are reported to be at odds over who holds legitimate authority to make organisational decisions in the founder's absence.
The coordination body was ostensibly established to streamline decision-making and present a unified front ahead of anticipated political developments. However, its creation appears to have had the opposite effect, widening rifts between competing factions rather than bridging them.
Analysts note that such internal fragmentation weakens PTI's capacity to mount effective opposition and raises questions about the party's cohesion at a critical juncture in Pakistan's political landscape. The dispute also adds pressure on party leadership to resolve structural ambiguities before they further erode public and political support.
