Red Zone Security Reviewed Ahead of Heightened Threat Environment

Senior police superintendents reviewed security arrangements at Red Zone checkpoints in Islamabad and issued fresh directives to strengthen protocols at entry and exit points into the most sensitive security zone of the capital. The review, conducted by SPs Tahir and Iqbal, focused on personnel deployment, vehicle screening procedures, and inter-agency coordination.

The Red Zone, which encompasses the Parliament, Supreme Court, diplomatic enclave, and key federal ministries, is subject to permanent elevated security posture. However, periodic formal reviews signal either a specific threat assessment or a broader institutional exercise in maintaining operational readiness.

The directives issued following the inspection are understood to include enhancements to document verification procedures and stricter enforcement of vehicle movement restrictions. Officers on duty at the checkpoints have been instructed to raise their operational vigilance with immediate effect.
