Sindh and Uzbekistan's Navoiy Region Sign Trade and Agriculture Cooperation Deal

The government of Sindh and Uzbekistan's Navoiy region have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, industry, and agriculture, formalising ties through an agreement intended to unlock economic linkages between the two regions. The accord represents a growing trend of sub-national diplomatic and commercial engagement that bypasses traditional bilateral government channels.

The agreement identifies specific areas of potential collaboration including agricultural product trade, industrial sector partnerships, and knowledge exchange in food processing and manufacturing. Navoiy, a key industrial region in Uzbekistan, brings considerable manufacturing and mineral processing capacity to the partnership.

Sindh's engagement with Central Asian regional governments reflects a broader strategy to diversify trade relationships and identify new markets for Sindh's agricultural exports, which include rice, cotton, and horticultural products. Uzbekistan has been actively pursuing expanded trade partnerships with South Asian economies.

Officials from both sides indicated that working-level committees would be established to operationalise the agreement, with concrete trade and investment proposals expected to be developed over the coming months.
