Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentences of Chotu Gang Members

Pakistan's Supreme Court has upheld the death sentences handed down to members of the notorious Chotu gang, bringing judicial finality to one of the country's most high-profile organised crime cases. The Chotu gang, named after its leader Ghulam Rasool alias Chotu, gained widespread infamy for a dramatic armed standoff with security forces in the Rajanpur district of Punjab in 2016, when gang members briefly seized hostages including police officers before a military operation forced their surrender. The case subsequently moved through successive courts over nearly a decade.
