UEFA Bans Benfica's Prestianni Six Games for Discriminatory Conduct

European football's governing body UEFA has handed Benfica player Prestianni a six-match ban following a finding of discriminatory conduct, in a disciplinary ruling that underscores the governing body's continued effort to enforce anti-discrimination standards in professional football.

The sanction reflects UEFA's established zero-tolerance framework on discriminatory behaviour, which includes racist, xenophobic, or otherwise offensive conduct on or around the field of play. Six-match bans represent a significant sporting penalty and carry reputational consequences for the player and club.

Benfica, one of Portugal's most prominent football clubs, will be required to manage the player's absence across forthcoming competitive fixtures as a result of the ruling. The club has not yet issued a detailed public response to the ban.

UEFA's disciplinary enforcement on discrimination cases has grown more prominent in recent seasons as pressure from governing bodies, players' associations, and fan groups has mounted for consistent and meaningful sanctions against such conduct.
