The deepening impasse between the United States and Iran has entered a particularly dangerous phase, with analysts warning that the absence of a credible diplomatic exit strategy from either side substantially increases the probability of armed conflict, despite the latest reported delay in US strike plans. The standoff has moved beyond a test of wills into a structural deadlock with potentially severe regional and global consequences.

Washington has calibrated its position around a demand for verifiable Iranian nuclear programme dismantlement, a condition Tehran has repeatedly rejected as incompatible with its sovereign rights. Iranian leadership, facing internal pressures from hardline factions and economic strain from sanctions, has limited room to offer concessions without risking domestic political collapse.
