Civilian Hero Hailed for Foiling Suicide Attack in Attock

Pakistan on Tuesday hailed a civilian who successfully foiled a suicide attack in Attock, with officials and citizens across the country paying tribute to the individual's courage and decisive action. The civilian's intervention is credited with preventing what could have been a devastating strike on the targeted location.

The incident occurred in Attock district in Punjab, where the individual reportedly identified and confronted the would-be attacker before the explosive device could be detonated at its intended target. Security forces were subsequently alerted and responded to the scene, with the funeral prayer of martyred police constable Liaquat Ali — who lost his life during the incident — offered at Police Lines Attock.

The civilian's act of bravery has been widely praised as an example of community vigilance, which security officials have consistently emphasised as a frontline defence against militant activity. The National Action Plan and broader counterterrorism frameworks have long stressed the role of civilian cooperation in detecting and disrupting such threats.
