Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Sindh as Dry Spell Intensifies

Following earlier reports on the ongoing heat episode, updated meteorological assessments now forecast very hot and dry conditions to persist across Sindh province in the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned residents of extreme temperatures with no significant rainfall or relief in sight for the short to medium term.

The forecast extends the current dry spell that has already pushed daytime temperatures well above seasonal averages in multiple Sindh districts, including Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana, areas historically among the hottest inhabited places on earth during summer months. Health authorities have urged the public to limit outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours and maintain adequate hydration.

The intensifying heat comes at a time when many families in Sindh are gathering for Eidul Azha celebrations, raising concerns about heat-related illness among outdoor congregations and those involved in sacrificial animal slaughter activities under open skies. Civil administration has been placed on alert.

Climate analysts note that Pakistan's Indus valley corridor, of which Sindh forms the lower section, has experienced increasingly severe and prolonged heat events in recent years, consistent with regional climate projections warning of escalating summer extremes through the coming decades.
